Weekly News Oct. 20 - Oct. 24


What are we learning this week?
  • Math - Division Topic 9 – repeated subtraction and division stories – small quiz on Wednesday
  • Language Arts  - Story: Coasting to California, Genre: Nonfiction, Skill: Main Idea / Supporting Details, Grammar: Nouns = Plural
  • Writing – Informative Introduction
    • Cursive -   Uppercase alphabet 
    • Vocabulary – culture, communities, immigrants, established, traditional
    • Science/Social Studies/Health - Monday 10/20, Wednesday 10/22, and Thursday 10/23
      Mrs. Aceves = Health, Mrs. Barnes = Science, and Ms. Ryan = Social Studies
    • Art - Fall Landscapes - Almost complete

    Please Note:

    •      Nightly homework resumes this week.  Ms. Ryan’s Native American report is due on Friday, October 24th

           On Monday, November 3rd, all 3rd – 6th grade Mt. Washington teachers will attend a one day math training.  Unfortunately, this means I will be out of the classroom again.  Mr. Cruz will be the substitute this day, and I will leave him very thorough lesson plans.

    •    This week is red ribbon week.  Mrs. Aceves will be presenting red ribbon activities to the third graders during health class. 
        UPCOMING EVENTS:

        10/20, 10/22, and 10/23 – Science, Social Studies, and Health Rotations – 1:30 – 2:15
        10/21 – Early Tuesday – dismissal 1:30
        10/25 – Carnival of the Howling Wolves – Volunteers still needed.
