Weekly News April 13th - April 17th


What are we learning this week?
  • Math  Envision CCSS Topic 14 – Area, Continue with Math Madness, review for SBAC (Smarter Balance test 5/4)
  • Language Arts  - Story – Ramona and Her Father, Genre – Humor, skill – Problem and Solution
  • Vocabulary Words -  anxious, cross, managed, alarmed, pretend, unfortunately
  • Science/Social Studies/Health  Rotations are on Monday 4/13, Wednesday 4/15, and Thursday 4/16
  • Geography - Clay map of the world  – painting 
  • Spelling  - Spelling packet and test is due on 4/16
Please Note:
•  Thank you to our two parent chaperones, Kyle’s mom and August’s mom,  for the Placerita Canyon trip.  We had a great time!
    March reading logs are due.  Please turn these in.
• On Monday 4/13, Mr. Aguirre will be the substitute teacher for room 14.  I will be on campus, but will be attending an all day training.
• Thank you to Kyle’s mom and Sevilla’s mom for mixing dough balls on Thursday.  Our clay maps look terrific!
• Thank you to Iman’s mother for photocopying for the third grade teachers.  We SO appreciate it

      UPCOMING EVENTS:

      4/14 – Dismissal is at 2:30.  There are no more early dismissals on Tuesdays. 
      5/4 – 5/7 – SBAC test for Room 14

      Weekly News April 6th - April 10th


      What are we learning this week?
      • Math - Envision CCSS Topic 14 – Area, Continue with Math Madness, review for SBAC (Smarter Balance test 5/4)
      • Language Arts  -  There will be no new story this week.  Our focus will be on writing opinion papers.  We will also be using i-Pads to take the practice test for the SBAC
      • Science/Social Studies/Health - We will not be having rotations this week.  They will resume on Monday 4/13.
      • Geography - Clay map of the world
      • Spelling  - Spelling packet and test is due on 4/9
      Please Note:
      •  Our next field trip is to Placerita Canyon on Friday, 4/10.  We will need chaperones with good tennis shoes ;)  Please let Mrs. Barnes know directly if you wish to chaperone.  Placerita Canyon is limiting our chaperones, therefore, I will accept chaperones on a first come basis.  Students will need good walking shoes, water bottles, a sack lunch, snack, hats, sunglasses, sunblock, and a Mt. Washington t-shirt (if available).  Teachers are requesting field trip slips, and a $7 donation.

          March reading logs are due.  Please turn these in.
