Weekly News Mar. 23rd - Mar. 27th


What are we learning this week?
  • Math - Envision Topic 15 – Division, Continue with Math Madness
  • Language Arts  -  There will be no new story this week.  We will be focusing on completing incomplete projects before going on Spring Break.  Language Arts homework will be focused on completing our book for publishing.  It is due this Friday, 3/ 27.
  • Writing Pourquoi Tales
  • Science/Social Studies/Health - We will have rotations this week on 3/23, 3/25, and 3/26.  Homework in Social Studies is due this week.  
Please Note:
•  Our LACMA field trip was a huge success because of all the wonderful chaperones!  Thank you!  Our next field trip is to Placerita Canyon on Friday, 4/10.  We will need chaperones with good tennis shoes ;)

    Thank you to all who have donated items to the classroom for our special projects.  I appreciate your support!!!!!  We are still in need of 3 cylinders of salt.  If you are able to donate this, please email Anahata.  Thank you!!!!!  We will be completing this project on Thursday 4/9.  I am in need of two parent volunteers to mix 24 dough balls from 8:00 – 8:45.  Please let Anahata know if you are able to assist on this day.  Thank you!


     Room 14 will be working on self-portraits, which require special paper and supplies.  If you are able, please donate $3 cash towards this project.  Thank you!

      Weekly News Mar. 16th - Mar. 20th


      What are we learning this week?
      • Math - Envision Topic 17 and 20 - Measurement and Probability   
      • Language Arts  -  Story = A Solution to Pollution, Genre – nonfiction, Skill – Problem and Solution
      • Vocabulary Words  - awareness, pollution, emphasize, utilize
      • Spelling - Spelling packet and test is due on 3/20.  Please note that this is a Friday.
      • Writing Pourquoi Tales
      • Science/Social Studies/Health - We will have rotations this week on 3/16, 3/18, and 3/20.
      Please Note:
      •  We will be going to LACMA on Thursday, March 19.  We will be taking one bus and have drivers/chaperones.  Paperwork went home last for the trip.  Thank you to all who volunteered to drive and chaperone.  I will be sending out an email confirming the chaperones and drivers.

          Focus Fish P.E. will be scheduled for Tuesday of this week instead of Thursday due to our field trip.  Please wear the proper clothing and shoes.

          Weekly News Mar. 9th - Mar. 13th


          What are we learning this week?
          • Math -  Envision Topic 16 and 17-  Measurement -   time, metric units of capacity, units of mass
          • Language Arts  - (continued from last week) Story = Nacho and Lolita, Genre – folktale, Skill – theme
          • Vocabulary Words - brilliance, affection, pleaded, exhausted, guarantee, preparations
          • Spelling Spelling packet and test is due on 3/12
          • Writing Pourquoi Tales
          • Science/Social Studies/Health - No rotations this week.  Rotations begin on 3/16.  There will be a Health test for all groups on 3/13.  Review sheets will go home this week and can be accessed online.  The review sheet cannot be used during the actual test.
          Please Note:
          •  Our first field trip to the California Science Center was a success.  Thank you to all the chaperones and drivers who made this trip possible.  We had a great time and we returned safe and sound!!!

              Our second field trip is to LACMA on Thursday, March 19.  We will be taking one bus and need drivers/chaperones.  Paperwork will be going home this week for the trip.  Thank you!


             Each student needs one paper towel roll, one 9-volt battery, and one 9 volt connector.  Please turn in the supplies as soon as possible.


          •  In order to complete a class project, we need 3 cylinders of Mortons salt.  Please let me know if you are able to donate this.  Thank you!!!!!

          •  Mr. C is a teaching credential candidate who will be joining us in the classroom every Wednesday and Thursday for the next 7 weeks.  He is from a program called Cal State Teach.  He has his Master’s degree in Art History and we look forward to having him in our classroom.

              Weekly News Mar. 2nd - Mar. 6th


              What are we learning this week?
              • Math -  Envision Topic 16 -  Measurement -  capacity, weight, time
              • Language Arts  - Story = Nacho and Lolita, Genre – folktale, Skill – theme
              • Vocabulary Words - brilliance, affection, pleaded, exhausted, guarantee, preparations
              • Spelling Spelling packet and test is due on 3/5
              • Writing Pourquoi Tales
              • Science/Social Studies/Health - No rotations this week.  There will be a Science test for all groups on 3/6/15.  Review sheets went home last week and can be accessed online.  The review sheet cannot be used during the actual test. 
              • Speeches - Demonstration speeches are due on Monday 3/2/15.  Speeches that we are unable to present on Monday will continue throughout the week. 

              Please Note:
                 Our first field trip will be to the California Science Center this Wednesday on March 4.  An email went home this past weekend with details.  Please wear good walking shoes and bring a lunch with a drink.

                  The second report card will be sent home on Friday, March 6.
